(rambling) i always told myself if i ever got a show i'd never be on the internet again, at least until the show finished, but i do feel like when you're independent it's a little harder to do that

showrunners back in the day could rest easy knowing the network would market their show and had the benefit of weekly episode releases. when you're independent, being on the internet and engaging IS your marketing and the long gaps between episodes make it hard to stay relevant

i definitely struggle with the fear of the this project becoming irrelevant and losing the momentum i've built up which is the reason i try to stay active and post. and i do genuinely love talking to and engaging with people who enjoy my work!

im just in a weird place where my show doesn't feel,,, real to me yet? on my end im just drawing stuff and posting on the internet like i have been for the past 15 years but im realized that people are seeing this as a serious and official production haha

idk there's no goal to this post. it's just been interesting navigating "fandom" as a "showrunner" now even though i don't fully see myself as one. i like being on the internet and the community that comes with it but im in a weird in between now where im not sure where i stand

I can understand the fears you have but I don’t see this series being irrelevant because K you created and impact on the scene and many are seeing this as one of the many to help start the new wave from indie, AA Studios and triple A. You def have something real here.

Yea, it’s harder cause being indie means unless budget is endless, team is small and gotta market and spread the word and be the face of the studio. At least one good thing is, you don’t have to respond to everyone. I’d probably just make announcements, share progress, and fade back into the void

I don't know about other people, but I really enjoyed the first two episodes of PPPIDWTBAMG, and so I'll be showing up for what's next, no matter how long it takes.

From everything I’ve seen about fandoms on the internet for cartoon shows I firmly believe that the worst thing for your mental health would be interacting with the fandom. I get you have to because of the nature of how your project came to life but please find a way to be safe.

It does really suck. Having to put in the YEARS of effort building the skills just to make the thing, and then we have to do the nightmare of social media on top of it? Not to mention a lot of creatives like myself are super introverted. I just want my work to speak for me 😩

All I hope is that your experience creating the show is a mostly positive one. It sucks that the internet a very temperamental place and it feels like creating things can be a minefield at times. I hope you can achieve the balance of making something you love while being online.

I do have a dream of being art director or direct my own animated film. But at the same time I don’t want to be on internet either if that happens

Being real, part of the draw of the series has been that the creator is accessible and interesting- I enjoy the show, but being able to draw a straight line to a cool person in a world where lots of… much less pleasant people are in lead positions absolutely boosts the appeal.

It's a double edged sword being active online if you're the creator behind some popular cartoon or webcomic, but I think you've genuinely had a positive impact on the indie animation scene for all you've done.

I definitely feel like separating things help a lot. Use one account as your public promotional one and have a private account where you can just say things to people you care or is too spicy for general audiences

I just hope you'll keep posting awesome art after it's done though. Your drawings and comics are so cute and amazing and I'd be so sad if they were the last ones ever!🥺 Entirely up to you though.

Unfortunately its a relationship that needs to exist because how will show get made if not for fans but in exchange you gotta deal with .... that

Totally! Being independent means ya gotta do all your own marketing. It's the double-edged sword of indie content creation.

There's a certain pressure to it that isn't fun to feel, but I figure if what's Being Done is what worked before, then even if 'Irrelevancy' strikes, it'll regain traction again Surely the reason it worked the 1st time wasn't because it was made quickly
