I think FDC may evolve into something broader than an external data protocol.
Today the obvious use case is proving facts from outside Flare: an XRP payment happened, a BTC transaction exists, a Web2 event returned a specific result.
But FCC introduces a different role.
FDC v2 can also attest the infrastructure performing computation. TEE machines periodically prove they are alive and running the expected environment, and those attestations become part of how Flare determines which machines can be trusted for confidential workloads.
That introduces a key difference.
If Flare increasingly relies on external execution environments, machines, wallets and other offchain infrastructure, FDC could become the common verification layer connecting those systems back to onchain logic.
So this is not just “bring data onchain”, but prove what happened outside consensus, including details around the infrastructure that made it happen.
