if you hate on Marnie you’re a brain dead loser, end of.
Hard to overstate the regularity with which I text Marnie some variation of: “hey I’ve seen the abuse you’re copping”. I don’t know of another reporter that cops as much online abuse as her and my heart breaks - for what? It’s fucking outrageous.

SO good
An official crowd of 16,672 for the Swans-Bombers AFLW match.
It’s a record crowd for women’s footy in Sydney! Beat the previous record, comfortably, of 8,264.
A moment to be proud of after a tumultuous week.

You’re so right! It actually shouldn’t have to be Kate bringing up these conversations, the men should be bringing it up so it is not — as always — a woman’s job to make sure these stories get appropriate coverage.

so it’s very clear that a concerning amount of men fundamentally misunderstand consent, think any assault charge that doesn’t result in conviction is — by default — a false allegation, and have absolutely no issues speaking heinously to and about women. shit week for the girls

also like straight up being a sex worker is not the worst thing a person can be. it doesn’t have to be glorified, it doesn’t have to be condemned. just treat sex workers as people with basic human rights good LORD

You can’t say respect for women is core to your beliefs while also saying you welcome the players back to the club. Weak statement from the swans after an otherwise strong move. This whole paragraph could’ve easily been omitted

every time an allegation comes up about a footballer someone suggests that they’re in it for money, as if any woman in recent history has been BETTER off financially, reputationally or in any meaningful way, for making an allegation about a prominent Australian athlete.

FYI:
- sex workers are people, they have basic human rights and can be victims of assault
- players partners are in a very fragile position right now and don’t need you commenting weird stuff on their IG
- Twitter rumours aren’t facts
- support the swans AFLW girls this week.

the guy advising Infantino on selling the World Cup is the ex Liberty media boss and he’s also starting some weird as fuck horse racing league

Infantino trying to flog the World Cup off to the highest bidder immediately after the tournament wraps is the international equivalent of the Tom Glover bucket incident

I’ve been to the states twice this year on different airlines and both have emailed me AND noted in-app that there are visa requirements to enter.
Dave Hughes booked a flight to the US, failed to get the required ESTA, turned up at the airport anyway, and has now completed the only process that interested him: blaming everyone else.

the World Cup is fundamentally about celebrating minorities and the idea that regardless of your race, socioeconomic background or birth circumstances, you can still go on to become a gun footballer.
that is literally the story of some of the most celebrated players in history
You don’t have to try shoe horn left wing identity politics into every single discussion about football.
It’s just bizarre for SBS to say that the World Cup was about celebrating ethnic minorities. I thought the World Cup was about football.

The Socceroos squad is built on the refugee story, the World Cup at its core —as per Jules Rimet’s original goals — is about uniting the world through football. This is the least strange World Cup sign off I’ve ever seen.
Shuuuuut uppppp bro
Extremely strange World Cup sign off from Australian SBS News: “Over 17 million Australians tuned in, celebrating our national pride in the Socceroos and the ethnic minorities that make us so special”
This is such a strange turn of phase.

Also for what it’s worth while everyone is on the I hate claudes train, the guy built a whole production company to give football the media attention it deserves in this country and spent YEARS earning this role. If you wanna come for people undeserving of their jobs go elsewhere
