ALARM BELLS SHOULD NOW BE RINGING
What follows is not speculation, commentary or reconstruction.
It comes from the Metropolitan Police’s own internal handling record for CRN 6029679/21.
That record shows:
20 December 2021 - the allegations were reported and the MPS recorded that the complainants had a “large amount of evidence” on memory sticks and in documents.
22 December - the matter was “Screened In” and transferred into CID handling.
29 December - a Detective Constable was allocated as the Investigating Officer.
11 January 2022 - “No Crime” was confirmed.
12 January - the Commissioner’s Staff Officer told Mark Sexton the matter had been closed and would not be investigated further.
However...... the MPS’s own record then continues.
13 January - further supervision.
28 January - further supervision.
12 February - Mark Sexton, Philip Hyland and Sam White attended Hammersmith to furnish the OIC with further evidence, and asked for an update from the OIC.
21 February - Tor Garnett issued the closure letter.
But even then the internal record did not end.
24 February - the Investigating Officer recorded, “the MPS is not pursuing an investigation into these offences.”
1 March - the record states, “Investigation Complete.”
So, the question is now unavoidable:
If the case had already been closed by 12 January, what exactly was the Metropolitan Police doing for the following seven weeks?
And if it had not finally been closed, why was a complainant told, by the Commissioner's Office, that it had been?
This is neither rhetoric nor hindsight.
This is the Metropolitan Police’s own internal handling record.
