Personal update: I've joined Anthropic. I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative. I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D. I remain deeply passionate about education and plan to resume my work on it in time.

Anthropic reset limits, so I can actually test Claude Design properly. It's not anything much beyond Stitch: comes up with plausible layouts, but has VERY little product design sense. Actually, if you pause for 5 seconds, you see baffling design decisions.

As in coding, these models are at times... performative. They draw more elements than needed, create more complexity than product requires, overwhelms screens with details. Code at least has clear RL targets. With design, it just vomits components.

We reached peak laptop. With full computer automation and dispatch from mobile chats, appeal of always-on desktop machines is up, need for laptops is down. Laptops will remain the largest computer category, but right now - we're at peak. Return of the desktop!
