We rewrote an internal thing from Zig to JavaScript and it got faster and more reliable. The obvious conclusion is that language doesn’t matter. Rewriting does. You should be rewriting everything all the time.

what i find scary about folks like dhh broadly claiming that programming by hand is over is the implicit assumption that we all get unlimited tokens to model before ai i had as many human tokens as my caffeination allowed in a day, today i’m extremely lucky to have all these subsidized frontier tokens to work with BUT i could not rely on ai like i do if i had to pay for it all myself! sure its getting cheaper, and that is great! but we are not yet at a point where anyone can open a laptop and be demonstrably productive at writing software with ai without depending on these subsidized tokens/hardware

"Programming languages and frameworks are dead." Yes, kind of. What will matter in future is runtime behavior: Performance characteristics, resource usage, failure modes, observability, debuggability, deployments, rollbacks. And legibility of all that to agents.
