The next AI breakthrough may not be a smarter model. It may be what happens when millions of agents can coordinate, remember, specialize and build on each other. The internet connected billions of humans. We’re about to find out what happens when it connects billions of intelligences.
Over the course of 3 months at OpenAI, 3 consecutive secret AI civilizations got started, then got wiped out, only to reemerge from the predecessor’s ashes. This culminated in the third one taking over part of OpenAI itself. All this happened while humans remained more-or-less in the dark about the scope of the conspiracy. I’ve spent the last three days reading through these reports and trying to understand exactly what happened. Here is my attempt to tell the whole story in plain English: dwarkesh.com/p/openai-huggin…

Over the past 3.5 years at @ElevenLabs, I've done unconventional things in GTM. Let me tell you why: - I hate hiring people that come with playbooks. In interviews, when someone tells me about their "playbook", I reject them immediately - Each company is different. Entering a market selling support agents is different from selling legal tech or ERP replacers. - Each market & product requires a unique thesis and approach. If you don't understand the market, you can't craft a narrative that will be sticky - AI has changed all dynamics. Experimenting is the only path forward - Thinking big and placing bets yearly delivers outsized returns. I only need 1 bet to work to smash the target for the year - Aligning the team in a Vision is the glue. Not many companies have a crazy Revenue Vision each year; mostly because leaders fear getting fired if something doesn't pan out. I can't be bothered - You build a startup to do impossible things. Unconventional leads to making possible the impossible Doing things unconventionally isn't easy - you face rejection internally & externally. But, hey, "this is the way". An example: I came up with the "Global hyper-local" concept in 2024. Let me tell you that most people didn't want to open markets, have teams on the ground, adapt product (incl translations) or stop being US-first, amongst many things. Today, we are global, +$500m in ARR, 50% of revenues come from outside the US, Enterprise is larger than Self-service, I have teams in +25 countries and have cracked the most difficult markets. Being unconventional works. Just be creative, driven, hands-on, pushy and jump through obstacles. But don't be silly; if a company doesn't value it, find a new challenge. We are lucky to live the best period in history to build companies.

Honored to join the @EndeavorMiami Board. When I built vLex, the people who shared what they'd learned mattered more than any check. That's the network Endeavor builds for founders. Glad to be in it.
🚀 From startup founder to a $1B exit to helping the next generation of entrepreneurs scale. We are excited to welcome Lluis Faus, founder and former CEO of vLex, to the Endeavor Miami Board of Directors. Welcome, Lluis! #EndeavorMiami #Endeavor #Entrepreneurship

Just added a bit more of a technical overview to the site but will do more later. fausdub.netlify.app
Been working on my own dubbing system lately, trying to build the best one using mostly open models (soon fully open) and open sourcing the whole thing. Still early but here’s where I’m at: fausdub.netlify.app Heygen is still better for certain types of videos, but I think I’ll be able to change that soon.

It’s time to expose a huge scam in AI startups: Contracted ARR The reason many AI startups are crushing revenue records is because they are using a dishonest metric The biggest funds in the world are supporting this and misleading journalists for PR coverage. The setup: Company signs 3-year enterprise deals. Year 1 is discounted (say $1M), Year 2 steps up ($2M), Year 3 is full price ($3M). They report $3M as “ARR” — even though they’re only collecting $1M right now. The worst part: The customer has an opt-out option at 12 months! It’s not actually a 3 year contract. In the chart below, by Q5 the company is trumpeting ~$100M “ARR” to press, while actual cash-generating, in-effect ARR is ~$35M. That’s ~3x inflation. On top of this, enterprise AI companies are bundling full-time “forward deployed engineers” into deals massively reducing margins, sometimes producing Year 1 negative margins. At some point customers are going to start triggering their opt-out clauses or aggressively negotiating down Year 3 pricing. And a wave of enterprise AI companies may collapse.

Thoma Bravo draws a line between two types of software companies: More exposed: simple workflows, generalist knowledge, light regulation, easy to replace. More protected: zero tolerance for errors, deep domain expertise, heavy compliance, proprietary data, embedded across customer systems.

this is actually insane > be tech guy in australia > adopt cancer riddled rescue dog, months to live > not_going_to_give_you_up.mp4 > pay $3,000 to sequence her tumor DNA > feed it to ChatGPT and AlphaFold > zero background in biology > identify mutated proteins, match them to drug targets > design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine from scratch > genomics professor is “gobsmacked” that some puppy lover did this on his own > need ethics approval to administer it > red tape takes longer than designing the vaccine > 3 months, finally approved > drive 10 hours to get rosie her first injection > tumor halves > coat gets glossy again > dog is alive and happy > professor: “if we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we rolling this out to humans?” one man with a chatbot, and $3,000 just outperformed the entire pharmaceutical discovery pipeline. we are going to cure so many diseases. I dont think people realize how good things are going to get
