You think equities onchain are interesting. Just wait for bonds.
As a former bond trader, this is the one I’m really excited about.
And not just US Treasuries. Gilts, bunds, emerging market sovereigns, corporate credit, the whole yield curve. Then eventually rates and credit derivatives.
Bonds are also just much better collateral than equities. Government bonds make up more than half of the initial margin posted for non-cleared derivatives in TradFi. They’re liquid, they yield and they don’t move as much as equities.
Crypto has already found real PMF for DeFi in borrowing, lending and collateral. Putting a much wider range of bonds onchain makes all of that more interesting.
It also massively increases the amount and variety of high-quality yield available to consumers.
Onchain bonds are going to be fun.
