What on earth would motivate someone in receipt of disability benefits to phone into a talk show, constantly asking if benefits should be cut, to say that people on benefits receive too much money?

How is giving tax payer funded childcare to a millionaire the right thing to do when we have people who cannot afford to heat their homes getting no help at all?

People shouldn’t be denied autonomy at end of life. Many MPs said palliative care needed fixing before Assisted Dying is implemented but the best palliative care cannot help everyone and we’ve heard nothing from the Gov on palliative care since the Bill fell #MattAllwright

Waiting for the part of Andy Burnham’s speech where he outlines the plan for palliative care. His view that funding needing fixing before implementing Assisted Dying essentially stole the hope of those seeking autonomy at end of life, so what’s the plan? Did I miss it?

The irony of Laura Kuenssberg talking about the BBC budget being squeezed and services being cut whilst raking in a whacking great salary

I don’t understand the ‘if you can work you must work’ rhetoric. That’s how the Universal credit system works. You have to prove you’re job hunting for 35 hours a week and take any job offered, or face sanctions. If it isn’t being enforced equally around the country, tackle that

Rather than ask if too many people are on benefits, why aren’t we asking why people can be in full time employment and eligible for universal credit? Why are we continually demonising benefit claimants but accept it’s ok that employers don’t pay enough to live on? #stormandalexis

Tenko is one of my most rewatched TV shows. Stephanie Cole was so good as Dr Beatrice Mason, alongside an incredible ensemble cast

I’m sorry Poppy but Dr Susanne O’Sullivan is talking nonsense about a medical specialty she has ZERO expertise in. It is both outrageous, ableist and misogynistic to assume conditions like POTS (which affect women more than men) are psychosomatic. This is not supported by 1/

Anyone on the Sunday news shows going to ask Angela Rayner about the Gov plan for palliative care given that Andy Burnham said it should come before Assisted Dying. According to those opposed to AD, good palliative care means no one has a bad death so what’s the plan?
73
Keir Starmer should have held a referendum on Assisted Dying. No politician should have the power to determine what happens at the end of someone else’s life but that is what this vote has achieved leaving us with no commitment to improve palliative care and continued suffering

Still can’t get over the number of Labour MPs that didn’t vote on the assisted dying bill. They can’t all have had valid reasons for not being there. This issue was of the utmost importance to many of us. Was loyalty to the abstaining PM more important than their constituents?

56 Labour MPs with no voted recorded for the Assisted Dying vote is utterly shameful from the party of government. Voted to represent their constituents but absent for something that matters so deeply to people on both sides of the issue is unforgivable

The status quo continues. Those with the financial means can go to Dignitas whilst others will suffer needlessly at end of life. Palliative care will remain under funded and many politicians who voted against AD, citing concerns the vulnerable, will keep pushing for welfare cuts

If MPs are entrusted with deciding whether or not we can have autonomy at end of life, the least they could do is show up to vote. The amount of abstentions in the Assisted Dying vote is shameful

Staggering amount of disrespect just shown in Parliament to Sian Berry, and her constituent, by clambering behind her in the chamber for a chat while she spoke
21
Important points from Hillary Benn talking about the vulnerability of people at end of life due to what they might have to endure & the notion AD is legalised for those who can afford to go abroad, but not for those without the means who must remain in the UK with no agency

Sadik Al-Hassan speaking powerfully about how his faith guides him but how it should not impact the choices of others which, as a legislator, is so important.
