Harris County is handing out $305,000 salaries while the treasurer faces a DWI charge and the county stares at a massive shortfall. Treasurer Carla Wyatt demanded her pay jump from roughly $140,000 to $305,000, saying she would not be “disrespected.” A citizen committee rejected the full request and recommended only a 30% raise. At the same time, Commissioners Court has advanced $305,000 pay for most other countywide elected officials, including all eight constables, the county attorney, district attorney, and several clerks. Those raises are written into the proposed budget. Wyatt is currently facing a DWI charge out of Galveston County from a May arrest in which she was found asleep in a vehicle on the highway. She previously had ANOTHER DWI case that was dismissed after a diversion program, plus a BURGLARY charge that a grand jury declined to indict. While dealing with those legal issues, she is pushing for more than double her current salary as the county faces a budget gap reported between $130 million and $181 million and discusses higher property taxes on residents. Taxpayers get no direct vote. The same officials who approved the higher pay package will finalize the budget. One office is being discussed for possible elimination while others lock in six-figure raises. When elected officials raise their own compensation during a shortfall, while one of them is actively fighting criminal charges, it stops looking like normal government. DoorDash just kicked a communist driver for stealing food from DHS!! A Buffalo-area Dasher named nixxslingerland got caught red-handed after posting screenshots of herself canceling paid orders headed to the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility, an ICE/DHS immigration center. She describes herself as a "not a Girl (agender, queer), Anarcho-communist, sad Stoner, Cat Parent". She used the safety-unassign feature on purpose, redirected the food to her free pantry, and bragged about it online. In one post she wrote “Just dropped off another cancelled nazi DoorDash to my free pantry and was handed this large bag of m&ms in return. I love communism.” In another she admitted she contacts support every time to demand the location be blacklisted completely while celebrating getting their orders cancelled and donating the food. She wore a Black Lives Matter shirt in her selfie. DoorDash investigated, deactivated her account permanently, and stated that misusing the safety-unassign feature to intentionally cancel orders and redirect food based on the destination is theft and a clear violation of Community Guidelines and Platform Access Policy. They also noted she was abusive to the support agent who tried to explain the rules. This is what open hatred of law enforcement looks like in 2026. A driver decides federal agents protecting the border do not deserve the meals customers paid for, then calls it communism while pocketing free candy. DoorDash did the right thing.
