With my LG56 ACC competition and the newly announced Aimlabs Duo Tournament, I have seen some comments from people feeling discouraged and giving up without even trying to compete because they know "the same people as always" will win.
While I understand the frustration and how difficult it can feel, we have to remember that the "esports" aspect of aim training is still extremely early in its life. Even though there have been competitions here and there for a couple of years now, there has never truly been a consistent reason for players to keep pushing themselves to become the best (besides internal drive and passion ofc, I am talking about an economic incentive here).
This is precisely why we need MORE competitions and MORE players to participate, even if they think they can't really "win" right now. Developing a "pro scene" featuring the very best players is something that will take time, and it can only happen if we keep trying, with more and more people showing up and grinding to improve until they eventually become the best of the best!
There are things we can do, and some we are already doing, to encourage more players to give this a chance. For example, we can reward more than just the top three players every time (like I did with prizes extending to 16th place in my competition and having prizes for randomly selected participants, or up to eighth place for duos in the new Aimlabs tournament). We can also experiment with other prizes, such as Aim Credits, roles, badges, peripherals, etc., and even running other types of competitions that aren't exclusively designed around the "elite" level.
At the end of the day, however, players must find the inner drive to compete even if they don't feel "ready to win it all." This is literally the beginning of a "new" esport, and you can invest in it early and grow alongside it! You can truly help us turn this into a real competitive scene just by playing.
For that to happen, we need more players and more competition. PLUS, joining these events is completely free, and you literally have nothing to lose!
