today a project ive held so closely to me is now out for anyone to watch i made my first shortfilm/doc this year & it pushed me in so many different ways as a storyteller as a team player as a daughter as an editor “The Weight of Dreams” is an ongoing conversation exploring what is a dream and what it means to have one, when i set out to make this i knew i wanted to capture stories I didn’t want to get lost so i decided to tell my parents’ stories if you watch the film I hope you’re able to find pieces of yourself in it 🤍

we have spent a very very very NORMAL amount of time thinking about every corner of this room. how the light hits different areas, which layout feels the most balanced, how each durable object will sit inside. hopefully you’ll feel it when you stop by.

i mapped all my personal relationships in a diagram

1 year. That's how long @otherkindstudio has been operating. Last year, @vbahkk and I came together around one question: what kind of studio would we have wanted to exist when we were early career. Interface design felt too narrow - We both love the process of design and the act of crafting something from first principles. Vanessa had a degree in industrial design while I had started my roots in architecture. So, we didn't set out to build another brand or interface agency. We set out to build a sanctuary for creativity: a place to experiment, a place that celebrates craft, and a place where designers can flourish in flow state. We both know what it feels like renting out creativity until there's nothing left. We've been learning how to combat that and build something meaningful. Here's to more and the exciting projects to come. (we're doing more than interface next year)

otherkind is 1. @itsdpark and I didn't start this because we wanted to build an agency. we started it because we wanted to build a creative company where design could keep expanding. a place to work on interesting problems with some incredible people (yall know who you are 👀) and companies, but also make our own things, follow weird ideas, host people, build tools, study beautiful things and spaces, and treat process like part of the output. the deliverable is only one part of the work. the rest is the conversation around it, how people start seeing the problem differently, how collaboration feels like a friendship, and what new thoughts get exchanged along the way 💌 year two will be more open: more process, more internal brand lab, more experiments, more WIP, more community, more of what we are interested in WHILE it is still alive. thanks for following along while we figure it out c: please enjoy this pic of my new shoes (and daniel ofc)
