If someone you know is CONSTANTLY talking about all the popular people they seem to know, and is using said people's names to convince others that they are just as cool... be wary. It's one thing to be asked about a person and say things like: "yeah [popular person] and I are friends, we hang out sometimes" or "oh yeah I know them, they are really nice!" Versus, not having it come up naturally and someone being like: "Oh yeah me and [popular person] go way back. They bascially have me to thank for their success and we are like besties" or "Well you know me and [popular person] are tight so you should tryst me too." you might be thinking... "That sounds too ridiculous to be real..." YET, I've had situations happen like this way more times than I can count on one hand. Invidiuals who constantly brag about knowing more popular creators are often using it as a way to gain clout and by pass peopels possible distrust. It's also incredibly disrepectful to use someones name willy nilly. You can totally have popular friends and be happy that you have a relationship with someone so cool! I do, and I'm very lucky cause they are not just cool but also very kind to me. HOWEVER, I dont go around to everyone that I know people telling them about other friends I have for no reason. While I am not super popular I have had this happen to me where people were using my name to get close to other people and t always feel icky. If it comes up naturally its fine. If it comes off as bragging thats honestly kinda a red flag. Just be cool, chill, and be respectful to your friends! ✨
