Washington DC
We're watching CWS v CLE in MLB'S ALDS. We ask if Theodore Roosevelt, Ida M Tarbell and Upton Sinclair to name three, saw the crowd headed for Progressive Field, would they individually and in unison, proclaim," hey this is for me!" What of Henry Wallace?

A comment on the pitch the Padres guy threw to the Brewers ' Contreras in the bottom of the 7th in the MLB baseball playoff in Milwaukee. Gone. That ball was gone almost before the batter swung. Wrong pitch, wrong spot, wrong month. Things can go wrong

From luty perspective the Padres and Brewers, teams that represent vocations or occupations are playing an entertaining Saturday night of MLB playoff baseball, although we seldom think of San Diego and Milwaukee as natural rivals.

MLB wild card baseball playoffs are all over tv today so you get streams of statistics. But there's still room for more! Like, percentage of fans who show up wearing team shirts. And of spectators over 12 who carry gloves. Key measures of engagement.

The MLB wild card playoff game today is high class bZeball, tense and close with notable demonstrations of athletic skill and judgment. Even the challenges of ball and strike calls are tense and close. Closer even than the proverbial inches. Microns.

This isn'tabout Jack Smith who Schmitt asked about Atlanta, where Phillies,Braves are in an MLB wild card playoff game. And where until the '60 the minor league baseball team was the Atlanta Crackers. It is thought no team today is the Crackers.

Do we yet recognize the tectonic magnitude of yesterday's upset of the Seattle Seahawks by the Washington Commanders in an NFL football game at Landover,Md? Seattle, the Superbowl champs, came out as not even best in PRINCE GEORGE'S County. ( A D.C.suburb)

So given the new interest in the classics prompted by the Odyssey, how would Julius Caesar greet the Chinese ruler XI at White House for summit? Maybe Hail, Eleven?

It's Tuesday,22September the first day of Fall, north of the equator. It is the unofficial day dedicated to the ambiguous in life. When people say "have a great fall" is that a wish for a fine season or is it hope for a swift descent, à la Humpty Dumpty?

Brighton Beach in Brooklyn is maybe not so trendy as the Bahamas but if you have a wedding, many of the guests will happily bring slivovitz and sing bawdy songs in Russian at the reception. Even if they're nobody's oligarchs.

To use a fine old cliche it seems they UNCEREMONIOUSLY closed the Kennedy Center on Tuesday. But some ritual was surely required in this city of speech and ceremony. Could no one stand outside in doublet and hose to ask the existential "To Be or Not to Be?"

We watched the Emmys last night. It was entertaining but in the end a little disappointing. Maybe we set our hopes too high but in our movie we can have one of the winners thank everyone "including the oligarchs!" who made it all possible. Crowd storms stage.

How would we improve the image of AI and make it appear less threatening and more congenial. Possibly we'd start with this Anthropic outfit. Get a brainy and beguilingly friendly young woman to be their public face. Call her, yes(!) Miss Anthropic.

They say we need to add President Trump name to façade of Kennedy Center to get him to supervise and fund raise. We ask is Washington actually ALL façade? We ask this mainly to demonstrate computer skill and the ability to get that funny mark under the "c".

Who is for a tv series that updates Eugene O'Neill and the Iceman Cometh? Laid off reporters sit around, smoke legally and dream of the newspaper they are some day gonna start by pooling their $5000 President Trump dividends. Call it "The Fake News"

It certainly seemed like at least an undercurrent of humor lay beneath president TRUMP'S GOP convention request at that supporters pledge to vote or risk going to hell. However we hope media interviews religious scholars on serious theology implications.

For all of us who for whatever reason ignored all the FIFA WORLD CUP soccer games this summer. Don't worry. TV is still showing all sorts of soccer games in all sorts of leagues and countries for us to continue to ignore. We don't have to give it up.

It's Sunday. So what does the Bible say about the course for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix Indy Car auto race. We recall Isaiah 40: 4. Something like "the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth" Belongs in road builders manual.

For the 250th anniversary of American independence, we wonder what Washington,Franklin and Jefferson would think of the 175 mph INDY car race here this weekend. They might ask "HOW fast?" "WHAT'S an Indy car?" and most important "WHO paved those streets?
