It was an honour to welcome Governor General Louise Arbour to the St. Boniface Museum, Winnipeg’s oldest building. During its 175th anniversary, the highlight of the event was watching her prepare the new Louis Riel display.

Ibrahima, a new Canadian, has taken on numerous leadership roles and received many honours, while Paulette was a dedicated Métis leader known for her impactful work with the Métis Local Elzéar-Goulet.

Paulette passed away recently, and it was deeply touching to have her daughter, Marie-France Mitchell, stand in her stead. It was wonderful celebrating these well-deserved recognitions alongside Ibrahima and the community.
