Just finished this @JohnFMauldin piece over @mauldinecon. He’s been simplifying his portfolio after realizing how hard a complex mix of alternatives and private deals would be for his wife to manage if something happened to him.
Ended up going all-in on dividend growth with David Bahnsen’s team. The argument is solid: you live off the fruit (growing dividends) instead of cutting down the tree. Worked through the lost decade and 2008 when most people were forced to sell.
Current S&P dividend contribution is historically tiny. A lot of investors have never seen a real multi-year drawdown. Worth thinking about what’s actually in the wallet for the next decade.
