There is nothing wrong with holding a rally against drugs. The drug crisis deserves to be raised.
But when grieving mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers are brought onto a political stage, their deceased loved ones’ photographs are displayed, and they are made to sit with their faces covered in black cloth, one has to ask: what is the purpose of turning private grief into political theatre?
This is sheer harassment of families already carrying unimaginable pain.
If these families genuinely need support, give them rehabilitation assistance, financial aid, legal help and a sustained mechanism to pursue those running the drug networks.
The BJP has every right to speak about the drug crisis. But families who have already lost someone to drugs deserve justice, dignity and solutions — not a stage, a camera and a political spectacle built around their grief.
