The college basketball season is only a few weeks away so here's my 2027 preseason board! With this being such a wide open class I'm expecting a healthy amount of early season movement, but for now feel free to ask any and all questions about prospects' placements!

The Most Valuable Non-All-Stars in the NBA The league’s most awarded players have an obvious appeal, but inefficiency in identification plagues fans and experts alike. All-Star nods identify *most* of the upper crust; +EV lies in the league’s equally talented, but less-heralded

UNC fans should be elated at the level of talent they’re getting in freshman wing Maximo Adams. 6’7, 220 — oozes scoring versatility, physicality + good possession economy. Can defend multiple positions with ↑ size + tools. A name to stash away & monitor for the 2027 NBA Draft.

Here’s a look at UConn’s Colben Landrew in his debut vs. Syracuse, and it’s no surprise why he’s my 3rd ranked prospect of the 2027 NBA Draft. A burly scoring wing with strong tools, defensive activity + feel indicators. He’ll be in contention for best freshman prospect of ‘27.

USC’s Alijah Arenas showed some promising tape in his sophomore debut vs. UNC. Multi-level shot creation with some improved handling, pace + contact absorption on display. If the ancillary skill & scoring efficiency can improve, I’m confident in Arenas as a ‘27 candidate.

Arizona’s Ivan Kharchenkov is my top returning wing prospect & favorite breakout star for the 2027 NBA Draft. 6’7, 250 lbs — a true multi-positional defender that blends size, connective skills, non-stop motor + efficient off-ball scoring. A name to monitor closely this season.

Guards were the crown jewels of the 2026 NBA Draft class. This cycle? A bit different, to say the least. Still, several intriguing guards returned to school with a chance to boost their stock. For @NoCeilingsNBA, I broke down 10 returners and their paths to rising up boards. Link⬇️

Plays like these make me confident in Pat Ngongba returning lottery-level value and being the first big selected in the 2027 NBA Draft. Improvements to the mobility, touch, and verticality from last season, additional to the high-level processing and rim protection he provides.

The notion that AJ Dybantsa has the tools to be a great defender has always been prevalent, but the production rarely matched the hypothesis. The sample size is negligible, but since he graduated to the NBA, he’s been a disruptive defender. His defense stood out most in his preseason debut, and his scoring will always be there. I break it all down 👇 @NoCeilingsNBA

Duke’s Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje was stellar offensively vs. Belmont but don’t let that overshadow how brilliant he was defensively. 3 BLK + 2 STL in his debut. A towering presence @ 7’1 with movement skills, power + length, able to guard both in space & the interior effectively.

I thought Caleb Wilson struggled on both ends in his preseason debut. Offensively, he rushed and too often settled for jumpers; defensively, he (and the Bulls as a whole) were undisciplined. Wilson was best when the Bulls got him out in space, or when he ran in transition. I'd like to see the team create more play-finishing opportunties for their rookie while he continues to grow as a shooter and creator. I break it all down👇 @NoCeilingsNBA

Josiah Rose (‘28 SG) is slowly cementing himself as the best U18 guard prospect in the world. 24.3 PPG on 72% TS, leading ALL of 3SSB in efficiency @ 1.27 PPP. Exceptional multi-level scorer that blends positional size with athleticism, vision, stock generation + play strength.
