March 25, 2015. 7th Annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium, Eko Hotel.
I was there as Media Consultant. I was asked to speak with the Channels TV crew on the ground to extend the live stream by one hour. They said only their CEO, Mr. John Momoh, could approve even one extra second — before payment. I walked back into the hall looking for someone who could reach Mr. Momoh. Then I saw Uncle Dele Alake. I knew I was saved.
I knelt before him and explained the situation. He listened patiently, then made the call. Channels TV gave us more than 20 extra minutes. I paid them the following day.
Uncle Dele may have forgotten that favour. I never will. It remains one of my favourite stories.
Happy Birthday, Sir!
Today, I turn 70 with deep gratitude to God for the gift of life and the privilege of serving my country.
I am thankful for every lesson, challenge and opportunity to contribute to Nigeria’s progress. My hope for our nation’s future is as strong as ever and my commitment to helping build a better Nigeria with integrity and purpose remains unchanged.
