the thread is pretty dense but quoting this as it stuck with me. it's refreshing to have the perspective of an insider into how the labs supposedly operate (thanks @hilbertspaess ) and saddened by how little hope is awarded to other companies doing the "right thing". it's another example that checks and balances, regulations, nation-states even they all but disappear when it comes to steering this technology in a safe manner. we users can effectively do little to nothing to influence this in any meaningful way other than playing at their tables with their rules. In practice, that's quasi unreachable already given the current speed of development. is this enough to become a Doomsday prepper or "joining the discourse" on X will change anything? starting with the latter probably a first step? 🤷🏻
