BREAKING: “WE CAN’T EAT ROAD SALT!” Democrat Troy Jackson RIDICULES Susan Collins for touting her success getting Trump to lift tariffs on road salt – demands to know “WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE?”
Susan Collins used road salt Tuesday night as proof that her fight against Donald Trump's tariffs on Canada is getting results.
“Troy mocked it, but I was successful in getting concrete, pulp, and road salt removed from the tariff list,” Collins said during their first Maine Senate debate.
“I didn't mock the fact that she got road salt back,” Jackson shot back. “I mocked the fact that – what about everything else?” Then he destroyed her in five words:
“We can't eat road salt.”
Collins claimed real savings in small Maine communities without the tariff and that she was “not finished” fighting them.
But Jackson countered that Collins shouldn't be claiming victory over exemptions from a trade war he says never should have happened in the first place.
“We have a country right now all across the northern border that are having trade wars with Canada for absolutely no reason than Donald Trump,” Jackson said.
Returning to the road salt, Jackson tied the seasonal commodity to the economic fallout from Trump's Iran war.
“There's going to be so many less people that will be able to afford to drive that I'm not even sure the road salt is going to be worth anything either.”
Sure, it’s nice that Collins saved Mainers a little money on road salt.
But, as our candidate Jackson says, they still can’t eat it.
