There's a modern internet trend to "characterify" everything. That's just a smiley. It's a simple pictogram conveying an emotion. TiKToK youth makes that a character with its own personality and ships it with other silly blorbos. Not that it's a bad thing, just an observation.

One thing i never see people to mention is how at least two of the Gaster followers in Undertale reference ventriloquism (an acting technique of putting a puppet on hand to create the illusion of it speaking by itself), which originates from a thing called. Gastromancy. Yeah.
