Mount Carmel vs. Brother Rice: 8A champs vs. 7A champs with some of the best high school football players in the country lined up on both sides.
There was even a CPD helicopter flyover in the pregame to juice up the crowd.
And then a freshman stole the show. Brother Rice QB Sam Holcomb is Chicago's newest star.

This reference is only going to make sense to a small group of local hoops junkies, but Sam Holcomb tonight was the first time I've had a "Jon Scheyer at the Hillcrest Shootout" moment while covering high school football.
That was fun. This was probably Holcomb's most impressive play of the night.
