Updated EU Major race prediction (as of Thu Oct 08 before any matches) - Headline is the NaVi - PARIVISION result from yesterday. With this result PARIVISION are now what would be considered safe along with teams like Astralis and 1win, meaning they just need to not lose all remaining matches in the race and they have plenty of opportunities. These predictions are given the teams play what they have planned. - NaVi is now under some real pressure going into the last event. They need another 2-3 result as the bare minimum and the teams in PGL Bucharest are strong. It's crazy to think about in hindsight (always easier) that they turned down Thunderpick WC invite and it went to PARIVISION instead. That is also how these races work.. when you turn down invites you also give them to a competitor who is then much better of. NaVi could really have used that Thunderpick invite now with the results they have had. The pressure is now their greatest enemy for sure. Under normal circumstances NaVi should easily go 2-3 and even to playoffs in a PGL event, but this is not normal circumstances obviously. As far as I can see NaVi faces G2 once again in the opening round of PGL Bucharest 🤯 FaZe will start their Roman Imperium adventure tomorrow and nothing short of a clean win of the event will increase their chances. My model says 75% if they win Roman Cup and less than now for any result lower, but these numbers will move with other results coming in. Its just to say FaZe needs to take this event clean, that is also some pressure in itself, 4 straight wins needed to not fall further behind in this race.

Updated EU Major race prediction -> 4 weeks to go (as of Mon Oct 5th before any matches played) - Astralis secured the major technically with the Stake Ranked win, even with 0-4 in remaining matches they are still >70% likely to make it and just 1 more win seals the deal beyond any doubt, before the other results might also do it for them. - Nemiga biggest gainer this week showing how a strong performance in a 100k event with good teams has major impact for teams in this race. This was the performance in Stake Ranked that would have moved a FaZe or BIG into the same position, but instead they are now under much pressure due to the opposite result in the event. Nemiga has PGL Bucharest where the job for them is to avoid going 0-3. If they did go 0-3 their prediction is down to 54% in my model, so some success is baked into a prediction. - NaVi got their first win of the minimum 4 needed. Big match for NaVi today against a shaky 9z. Given the form of 9z this is a must win opportunity for NaVi, but also a lot of pressure. They WILL need to win at least 3 more matches in this race to barely qualify. Btw: NaVi will be 34th globally on today's October ranking due to EPL not counting for that, imagine that statement 3 months back 🤯 - PARIVISION same story as NaVi almost. They got the first win, but need to pick up more here in EPL and in Thunderpick. They will be even lower than NaVi on October ranking btw, but it is November ranking that really counts. - B8 had a horror 0-2 outcome of Stake Ranked 4, something a prediction model of course doesn't "predict" beforehand, which is why they have dropped 24% from "safe territory" to now in real danger. They will need some more LAN wins, likely in Tesla Cup and the 71% now is baking that event into their prediction. - FaZe also with a horrible 0-2 at Stake Ranked 4. They will need some solid results in their remaining LANs. Best advice for them is to go win the DraculaN event. This week they will have the Roman Imperium Cup where they are huge favorites in a non-stacked field. If they cruise through the event they will increase their prediction to 80% in this model while just a 2nd place will decrease them to 63%. Just to say that any prediction model expects them to win this event more or less, so a lot of success there is already baked into the numbers. - 1win did indeed just need 1 win to move into contention. It's still amazing in VRS how much just 1 win in a tier 1 event can mean for a team from outside tier 1. 1win is a sleeper for a major ticket if they can get 1 more win in EPL and win the final Gluck LAN. - NiP with a big week and hot form. As you can see my prediction model is a little more conservative about giving hot teams instant high strength ranking, so it still only has NiP as global 29th. If you believe NiP is now much higher on the global ranking in terms of current strength (who would defeat who), then you can mentally up NiP's chances a bit. They will need more success to qualify is what I am saying, likely a good showing in Pulse 3 where they will meet all their competitors. - Alliance and BIG had a bad week as well with lackluster results. They will need to bounce back in their final events to qualify. The good thing about taking the defeats in bigger tier 2 events is that the defeats are not as costly, so that you can actually still bounce back with deep runs.
