⚠️ The Silent Killer Bug in Python Do NOT use "is" to compare values. The "is" operator checks identity; that is, whether two names point to the same object in memory. The equality operator(==) checks equality, that is, whether two objects hold the same value. For small integers and short strings, Python caches objects, so "is" sometimes works like the equality (==) operator. That's what makes it dangerous. It can make you think your code is working fine. For example, the code below is broken: a = 1000 b = 1000 print(a is b) # Output: False print(a == b) # Output: True But this one "works": a = 100 b = 100 print(a is b) # Output: True The problem is that your code behaves differently depending on how big the number is. That's a bug. Let's look at a string example: a = "hello" b = "".join(["hel", "lo"]) print(a is b) # Output: False print(a == b) # Output: True Same text, different objects. The "is" operator says no. The best way to do it is to use the equality operator(==) when you care about the value. This operator will give the same results. a = 1000 b = 1000 print(a == b) # Output: True Only use the "is" operator when comparing to None, True, or False.

Over the weekend, former president Uhuru Kenyatta and his family attended the wedding of one of their heirs. It started at Don Bosco Shrine in Upper Hill, where a simple church wedding was conducted before everyone proceeded to Muthaiga for a garden reception. It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Dr. David Silverstein, the long serving personal physician to the late retired President H.E. Mzee Daniel arap Moi. Dr. Silverstein left a lasting impression to those he treated and we witnessed firsthand his attention to detail and empathy. To him, Mzee Moi was not merely a client. He was a human being whose health, dignity and wellbeing mattered deeply to him. He took time to listen, understand and care, bringing warmth to his practice of medicine. This was the same humanity and compassion he extended to everyone under his care. On behalf of the Moi family, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, led by his beloved wife Channa Commanday. We are deeply grateful to them for allowing Dr. Silverstein to walk with Mzee Moi throughout his journey of health. His care and friendship will always be remembered with gratitude. May God grant him eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear this great loss.
