Built to turn dead time into a revenue line.

• Designed for the command line, not adapted from a display ad
• Interactive, so developers respond with keyboard controls without leaving the terminal
🫤 Apple looks to be removing the background color in App Store search ads, making them easier to mistake for organic search results. Gotta hit those quarterly numbers!
Airbnb has unique supply so is more insulated from agents going direct to the supplier.
Also: "Airbnb Inc. is testing taking a smaller cut of rental fees from hosts, seeking to fight back against a trend of customers booking directly outside of its platform."
My point is not to pick on Airbnb, but that the analysis of how commerce and marketplaces evolve with personalized agents is a very complicated exercise. Unique supply here means unique vs other marketplaces, but many suppliers are able to go direct, and agents can find them.
I wonder if there’s a lesson here about speed of diffusion. It was clear to everyone by at least 2021 that selling advertising against your own aggregated audience was feasible & profitable. Walgreens did it! But it’s 2026 and major global companies are only now launching RMNs.
This is a much longer topic, but taken to an extreme, an intelligent personalized agent effectively minimizes search costs and renders much of supply aggregation and onsite advertising useless. On a long enough timeline, everyone sells ads, but what if there's no one to sell to?
There was, to me, a very funny part of Jeff Dean’s appearance on Dwarkesh when he says “I would love a model that has access to all my emails, all my documents, and all my photos”. I thought at the time boy what company has the right to build that?
I’ve always wondered how Driscoll’s came to dominate berries. They control 1/3 of the market including 60% of organic strawberries, 46% of blackberries, 14% of blueberries, and all the raspberries.
Interestingly it turns out they are actually an IP licensing and marketing firm.
Every civilized person knows you order table pancakes. Then you can go sweet and savory. Come on this is not a meme this is standard operating procedures.
“I always get pancakes for the table. Unlocks the whole menu. It’s the best. Everyone who steps into a diner is thinking in their head, ‘should I do pancakes?’ But you don’t wanna just do pancakes, but you’d eat pancakes. So you get the pancakes for the table” -Big Cat
In the last 5 years, SMH and IGV have had a 5 percentage point or more daily spread 20 times. 13 of those are YTD. You can almost literally see when Claude Code caught fire, and the daily range dramatically widens.
