I AM SCARED THAT I MIGHT DIE, AND NOBODY KNOWS HOW MUCH PAIN I AM LIVING WITH. 💔😭 I have rewritten this post countless times because I don't even know how to explain what is happening to me anymore. My life is falling apart, my body is failing me, and I am honestly scared that one day I might just collapse and never get back up. Please, if you see this on your timeline, don't scroll past me. I am not asking for luxury. I am not asking for a comfortable life. I am simply begging for a chance to know what is wrong with my body and, hopefully, get my life back. For a long time now, I have not been myself. I have tried different medications, hoping that one day I would wake up and feel normal again, but I keep getting worse. I feel something heavy beneath my left rib. I urinate excessively. I get tired from the smallest activities. I sweat even when the weather is cold. I have a metallic taste in my mouth, pains in my stomach whenever I squat, and sometimes a sharp pain that leaves me frightened. My heartbeat becomes irregular. Sometimes, someone simply closing a door is enough to make my heart race as though I am in danger. I cannot remember the last time I had a peaceful night's sleep. I experience disturbing, vivid dreams, and even when I close my eyes, my mind refuses to rest. I have lost my appetite, yet my body keeps getting bigger. I struggle to walk long distances without becoming exhausted. Every day, I wake up wondering what is happening to me. Sometimes, my mind goes straight to the possibility of kidney problems, and the fear alone is becoming unbearable. Last year, I went to the hospital and carried out some tests. The results showed a heavy growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Unfortunately, after paying for the tests, I barely had enough money left to pursue treatment. A doctor recommended Augmentin, explaining that it could help treat the infection based on my test results. I couldn't afford much, so I managed my condition and kept hoping that somehow things would get better. This year, I reached a point where I could no longer cope. I cried out for help here on X, and some incredibly kind strangers came through for me. Through their generosity, I was able to get two packs of Augmentin. I took one tablet in the morning and one in the evening for two weeks, as prescribed. I thought that would finally be the beginning of my healing. I prayed. I hoped. I waited. But today, I am still here, struggling. I have seen no improvement. I still feel terrible, and the symptoms that have made my life unbearable are still there. I don't know whether the infection is still present, whether something else is wrong, or whether there is another explanation for everything I am experiencing. I am not a doctor, and I don't want to keep guessing with my life. Someone advised me to return to the hospital and repeat the necessary investigations, including urine, semen and blood tests, so I can find out what is actually happening. I need 40,000 naira to carry out these tests. That is the amount standing between me and the opportunity to get answers about my health. Please understand what it means to be sick and not have the money to find out why. To feel pain every day and be unable to do anything about it. To wake up frightened, go to bed frightened, and spend the hours in between pretending that you are fine because you don't know who else to turn to. I am not lazy. I am not deliberately sitting around doing nothing. I am a young man who desperately wants to work, earn money, take care of himself and live a normal life. But this illness has made even the simplest things difficult. I can barely work the way I used to, and sometimes I cannot walk far without feeling exhausted. The most painful part is that people see me from the outside, but nobody truly knows what I am carrying inside. Nobody sees the fear, the sleepless nights, the pain, the uncertainty, or the silent tears.

I am a Northern girl. But I am not the Northern girl you imagined. When people hear “Northern Nigeria,” many immediately picture a Muslim Hausa woman. That woman exists. But so do I. I am a Northern girl. I am Christian. I am not Hausa. I am Laka/Godogodo. And sometimes explaining that feels like I am introducing myself three times before people finally understand where I come from. The problem is that Northern Nigeria has been reduced to one religion, one language, one culture and one kind of woman. But the North is not one people. There are Christians. Traditionalists. Muslims. Indigenous ethnic groups. Minority languages. Women who wear hijab and women who don’t. Women who grew up in churches. Women who grew up in mosques. Women whose grandparents spoke languages most Nigerians have never even heard of. We exist. And I think one reason many people don’t know we exist is because we haven’t told our stories loudly enough. So yes, I am a Northern girl. Just not the version of Northern Nigeria you were taught to imagine. ImANorthernGirl

Open Letter to the Governor of Ekiti State @biodunaoyebanji Your Excellency, Governor of Ekiti State, I write this letter as a concerned citizen who genuinely wants to see Ekiti State thrive and reach its full potential. For many of us who grew up in Ekiti or have spent years visiting Ado-Ekiti, there is a growing feeling that the state is not moving at the pace it should. While other states are actively attracting investments, empowering young people, and building modern economies, Ekiti risks being left behind. One of the biggest concerns is the relationship between law enforcement and young people. In today’s digital economy, many young professionals work remotely as software developers, designers, content creators, digital marketers, traders, and entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, many of these young people often feel unfairly targeted and harassed simply because of how they look, the devices they carry, or the vehicles they drive. A state cannot build a thriving technology ecosystem when its innovators and creatives constantly feel like suspects. Many talented Ekiti youths are relocating to Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and abroad because they believe they have better opportunities and freedom elsewhere. This brain drain is costing the state valuable talent and future economic growth. There is also concern about the pace of economic development. While private investors continue to acquire properties and establish businesses, many citizens believe more can be done to create an environment that encourages local entrepreneurship, attracts investment, and generates sustainable jobs. Rather than relying solely on government employment, Ekiti should position itself as a hub for technology, agriculture, education, tourism, and innovation. The state’s greatest asset is its educated population, and this advantage should be fully leveraged. Suggested Solutions : End Unnecessary Police Harassment : Establish a clear framework for policing that respects citizens’ rights. Create a public complaint channel for reporting harassment. Conduct regular training for security personnel on community policing. Launch an Ekiti Digital Economy Initiative Create technology hubs and innovation centers across the state. Provide grants and support for startups and young entrepreneurs. Partner with private technology companies to create jobs. Retain and Attract Talent Offer incentives for businesses that employ Ekiti youths. Develop co-working spaces and reliable internet infrastructure. Promote remote work opportunities and digital skills training. Improve Infrastructure Continue upgrading major roads and transportation networks. Invest in stable power and internet connectivity. Prioritize infrastructure projects that directly support economic growth. Promote Investment and Business Growth Simplify business registration and approval processes. Create an investor-friendly environment that attracts local and international businesses. Support small and medium-sized enterprises with funding and training. Your Excellency, this letter is not written to criticize for the sake of criticism. It is written out of hope. Ekiti has enormous potential, a highly educated population, and a reputation for excellence. With the right policies and leadership, the state can become one of Nigeria’s leading destinations for innovation, investment, and opportunity. The future of Ekiti depends not only on building roads and structures but also on creating an environment where young people can dream, build, innovate, and succeed without fear. Respectfully, A Concerned Ekiti Citizen 🖊️.

Call for help. My mum was hit with a stroke in may 2024. Since then our lives haven't remained the same. My family have spent all our savings yet her condition hasn't changed. She has severe BP challenge, she has diabetes. Which has gone on to take a toll on her kidneys.
