WEEKLY GRAIN & PROTEIN DESK NOTE | OCT 3 GRAINS US corn fell ~$12/mt w/w as USDA ending stocks came in sharply higher and harvest pressure accelerated. US winter wheat lost $8–10/mt on poor export competitiveness in global tenders. US spring wheat was broadly unchanged. OILSEEDS & PROTEIN US soybeans declined $12–15/mt w/w as harvest approaches and Chinese demand remains muted. Soymeal was the weakest link, down $24–30/mt w/w, with supply catching up to demand. RUSSIAN EXPORT DUTIES | 30 SEP Wheat: 640.3 RUB/mt (-11.77%) Barley: 0 RUB/mt Corn: 220.6 RUB/mt (+39.27%) FOB SNAPSHOT | OCT–DEC Russian wheat 12.5%: $210–215/mt Ukrainian wheat 11.5%: $220–225/mt Black Sea feed wheat: $215–220/mt Russian corn: $215–220/mt Argentine corn: $215–235/mt Soymeal Argentina 47%: $410 → 390/mt Soymeal Brazil 48%: $410 → 390/mt Brazil soybeans: $525 → 490/mt FREIGHT US Gulf → Europe (Panamax): $28/mt (+1) US Gulf → Nigeria (30kt): $51/mt (-1) Brazil → China (Panamax): $56/mt (-2) Brazil → Japan (Panamax): $59/mt (-2) Black Sea freight remains highly distorted and difficult to price accurately, with Russian routes still trading at extreme premiums versus alternative origins. DRY BULK Baltic Dry Index: 3148 (-278) Capesize: 5042 (-742) Panamax: 2372 (-35) Supramax: 1789 (+3) MARKET SIGNAL Harvest pressure is keeping corn and soybeans under pressure, while weak US wheat competitiveness is handing more tender business to Black Sea and EU origins. Protein complex sentiment remains soft, and global grain trade continues to watch Black Sea freight and export tax shifts closely. #GrainMarkets #Wheat #Corn #Soybeans #Soymeal #BlackSea #Freight #DryBulk #Agriculture #CommodityMarkets
