Your own dashboard explicitly tells sellers to share their invite link with "friends and followers." Followers, by definition, already have active Whatnot accounts.

When they used the referral link, and it redirected them to the app’s homepage, they proceeded to complete seller verification, at which time they got the automated confirmation text, and immediately got my link from the same automated text number

This happens because the user already has a buyer profile. When an active buyer clicks a seller referral link, your mobile app auto-opens straight to the home page instead of routing them to the seller application landing page. It overrides and breaks your own tracking cookies
