Oh brilliant! … tougher sentences for men who rape children are delayed! because there isn’t enough prison space. But the man who denies criminal damage after allegedly slashing a migrant dinghy is on remand because they say he poses a “significant risk to public safety.” Which tells us apparently child rapists aren’t a “significant risk to public safety” then?

Slavery of Black Africans still persists in parts of the Muslim-majority world today, including Libya, Mauritania, Niger, Mali, Chad, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and northern Nigeria. Hereditary slavery continues in Mauritania, and open slave markets operate in Libya. I don’t hear Black people expressing outrage at that though. Weird, right?😏

💥 RESPECTED SWANSEA COMMUNITY FIGURE JAILED FOR 14 YEARS OVER SUSTAINED SEXUAL ABUSE OF TWO GIRLS A respected member of Swansea’s Muslim community has been jailed for 14 years after carrying out a sustained and systematic campaign of sexual abuse against two young girls. Mohammad Abedean, 62, of Page Street in Swansea city centre, was convicted following a trial at Swansea Crown Court of 14 offences including sexual assault and assault by penetration. The court heard Abedean’s offending had devastating consequences for his victims, with one describing herself as feeling “like damaged goods” as a result of the abuse. The years of offending only came to light after one of the girls ran away from home and left behind a letter explaining that she needed to escape the person who was hurting her. Although she did not name her abuser in the letter, she wrote about fearing she might take her own life and said she had remained silent because she did not believe anybody would believe or help her. She also said she felt unable to approach police because of concerns about what would happen if the abuse became known within the community. Police became involved following her disappearance and a second victim was subsequently identified. Helen Randall, prosecuting, read details from a victim impact statement in which one of the girls described the profound effect the abuse had had on her life. She said she had struggled to form relationships and had experienced insomnia, nightmares and periods of self-harm. The victim said the abuse had left her feeling dirty in her own skin and “like damaged goods”, and told the court she had also been shunned by some members of the Muslim community. The second victim said her experiences had left her fearful of older men and had affected her education, placing her future career ambitions at risk. The court also heard the case had caused divisions within the local Muslim community, with some people supporting Abedean and others siding with his victims. Sentencing him, Judge Geraint Walters said Abedean had used his respected status within the community in a way which had effectively protected him for years. The judge said Abedean had entered the witness box during his trial and essentially accused his victims of fabricating the allegations against him. Judge Walters said it was “sad to say the least” that victims of child sexual abuse could be regarded within parts of the community as “forever more tainted”. Abedean was sentenced to 14 years, comprising 13 years in custody and a further one year on extended licence as an offender of particular concern. He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.

A Middlesbrough woman convicted of molesting a child was sentenced to seven years behind bars in 2016. Shortly after the sentence, lawyers for 43-year-old Raheelah Dar argued the woman should not face prison time because the “shame” of being a pedophile as a Muslim woman was enough punishment. Dar was convicted of three counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child, though she denied the allegations. A court found her guilty of the crimes that occurred against a 9-year old girl for over four years. “Shame” of Being a Pedophile is Enough Based on the shame caused to the woman, the lawyer filed an appeal with the court requesting the suspension of the prison sentence. Along with the shame, defense counsel Alison Pryor told the court that her client suffered from mental illness, including bipolar disorder, which would have detrimental effects on her in prison. Pryor told Teesside Crown Court: “Because of the context under which this offending took place, my client is a practicing Muslim, the shame that this has brought and will bring on her family cannot be underestimated. It is something that would not be found in a more ordinary case of this type. The effect that a sentence would have is less than the effect that the conviction had on the community.”

British politicians say these people will improve the economy when they can’t even improve their own. Make that make sense!
