Brosnan’s head tilt at 40 seconds had my pals and I completely sold at the time. Ditto ‘No more foreplay’ and that amazing opening spelling out 007. This was a masterclass in new bondmanship.

Nice to see Superior and wee Simon in there from the series @leinilyu and I did years back. It took me a few seconds to realise these were all bombastic superheroes with regular flesh and blood alter egos.

Shocked to hear about the passing of Joshua Cassara, one of the absolute best modern Marvel artists. We never met but I'll miss him as a huge fan of his work and our wee background chats online occasionally. Huge condolences to his wife Martha and their family. Very, very sad news.

Watched Iron Man 2 tonight, my youngest just discovering Marvel since I took her on the Spidey set in London last year. So far we've watched all 10 Spidey films, X-Men 1-3, First Class, Days of Future Past, Cap 1, Iron Man 1, Thor, Ragnarok, Guardians 1-3, Civil War and Avengers 1 in that order. We're cutting out the (very few) sucky ones in that 2000-2019 run. Her fave, by a mile, is Ragnarok.

Next up we're doing Ant Man (she needs a lighter one next), Winter Soldier, Ultron, Dr Strange, Ant-Man 2, Iron Man 3, Infinity War and then Endgame. We're big fans of Shang-Chi in this house (strangely her only Marvel before this watch), but that's all I think she needs to see before Doomsday.

The only superhero TV show I’ve actually enjoyed in the past twenty years is Daredevil seasons one and three, to be honest. I like that other people have their faves, but I prefer my superheroes on the big screen.

EAST AURORA, N.Y. — September 21, 2026 — Graham Nolan, co-creator and designer of Bane and founder of Compass Comics, is available for interviews with podcasts and YouTube shows to discuss the creation of Bane, the landmark Knightfall storyline, the new DC animated Batman: Knightfall films, and his latest crowdfunding campaign, The Fantastics.
Nolan, working with writer Chuck Dixon, helped introduce Bane in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 (1993) and co-defined the character who “broke the Bat” in the Knightfall saga. With DC’s new animated Knightfall adaptation drawing fresh attention to the original comics, Nolan can speak to the character’s origin, visual design, tactical intelligence versus brute force, the Santa Prisca/Venom backstory, and how later adaptations have treated the material.
He is also promoting The Fantastics #1, a 64-page full-color graphic novel he is writing and drawing for Compass Comics. The story follows Navy aviators Kelly “Mac” MacGruder and Tommy “Duke” Mitchell after they return from Monster Island with superpowers and are recruited by the secret organization MM-1. Their first mission takes them to New Mexico, where a buried alien wreck, a nest of Kryll eggs, and the Brood Sentinel threaten to turn Earth into a hatching ground.
“The Fantastics is my love letter to the superheroes of old—not the nihilistic characters that inhabit so many titles today,” Nolan said. “I wanted wonder, excitement, adventure, and characters who are inspirational, aspirational, and fun. I also wanted a superhero book that could tie seamlessly into my established Monster Island universe. And I did it.”
The campaign is live on Back Me Bro and already well past its goal. It runs through October 22, 2026. Colors are by Gregory Wright; lettering by Carlos Mangual. The book is rated PG and is presented as a return to classic, optimistic superhero storytelling within Nolan’s connected monsterverse (Monster Island, Alien Alamo, and related titles).

Rex Harrison, Constance Cummings, Kay Hammond and the sensational Margaret Rutherford it has never been bettered and will never be beaten as the very best version.
