Random take: I think the education community has a problem with building narratives around individuals rather than research. There is way too much focus on which influencers are good or bad and way too little discussion of the actual research.

This is not true. Here are numerous research-based examples: 🧵
Tech was promised to be revolutionary in freeing our kids from rote memorization, but instead it’s succeeded at just that — hindering adaptive learning and creativity. We’re thrilled to be joined by keynote speaker Jared Cooley Horvath, author of “The Digital Delusion.”

It's baffling to me that a TEACHERS UNION would bring someone in to advocate for the removal of these resources from schools. We're desperate for a simple scapegoat for complex problems.

Based on the audience reactions in these clips, this is clearly a story folks want to believe. In that case, I'm not sure the evidence even matters: adamsparks.substack.com/p/ca…

Literacy is too complex & too important to be left to ELA teachers alone. We need an all hands on deck effort--including in math. More in my new post: nataliewexler.substack.com/p…

Did you know you can share Scriblit activities with other teachers? 👀 If you create something that works well, send it to your grade-level team, department, or a colleague so they can use it too. Share what’s working. Save time. Write better, together. app.arcade.software/share/nj…

This is exactly right. The alarmism and panic around screen-time is going to actually harm many students' learning who will be deprived of excellent instruction like this ⤵️
Replying to @C_Hendrick
Screens are essential for GIS use in geography lessons. GIS allows learning affordances that paper alone cannot bring. The generic principles of cog sci must be applied in subject sensitive ways.

I've been doing my best to push back against the wave of anti-edtech panic. A few weeks ago, I joined the One-to-One podcast to discuss what the research says and more: open.spotify.com/episode/5R6…
