you know i always have to have a Weird Answer to every prompt. i think my criteria is NOT manga that i like but rather: - a short(er) series with some sort of "hook" - has opportunity for cool sakuga moments - room for expansion/adaptive changes - not too explicit

i find it shocking that bikke's "shinkuu yuusetsu" is not talked about more. it's essentially a sentinel/guideverse story that predates the more mainstream trope by almost ten years, and asks a lot of interesting questions about the nature of intimacy and partnership

anyway as always i am interested in anime adaptations that don't just duplicate the material but can enhance the story through a change in medium. spoken exactly like the person who considers bronze cathexis to be the ideal bl anime adaptation LMAO

also rereading that second chapter (orso e intellettuale) makes me feel like, "ah, this is yakkuk's family tree" even though i have no reason to believe that's true. it's just that their writing/pacing feel like kindred spirits.

tho the "discorso del gelato" is clearly the origins of the style that yamashita tomoko later adopts for, like, "snip snail dog tail" LOL LONG LIVE BL NEW WAVE
