President Trump just told Zelenskyy it might be time for somebody else to sit at the table for Ukraine. As he left the White House for his Kansas rally today, a reporter asked about Zelenskyy saying Trump is on the wrong side of history. Trump didn't hold back. "Zelensky doesn't know what he's talking about," he said. "To be honest, I think that it's time for somebody else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine."
Trump said Zelenskyy should have settled this war a long time ago and would have gotten a much better deal if he had listened. He also defended the diesel deal and easing sanctions on Moscow, saying he's working to get a hostage home and that Putin is "laying off Iran" while the U.S. hits Iran hard. "Zelensky is not helping matters much. I think he doesn't want to stop it, but I want to see people not die," Trump said.
This war is in its fifth year and the killing hasn't stopped. Somebody has to push both sides toward an end, and Trump is the one pushing hardest. Lecturing him about history in a TV interview doesn't move Ukraine one step closer to peace.
