I find that a lot of live action adaptations of comics, manga, and fantasy books are embarrassed by the inherent campiness of said medium/genre. The absurdity, over the top, vivacious nature is dropped in favor of being realistic.
Lanterns is a 8/10 show. Really good but it is a 4/10 lanterns show if that makes sense. I've never seen a show being this embarassed to be a Superhero show. The writing is great, fantastic at times but you could rename the show "The Nebraska case" and it will still work
