@Yankees trading for Skubal?
I can't help feeling this would be a Soto move: trading the future for a futile half-season rental on a player Cashman will never pay to keep.
This team has so many holes: far too many players who shine against poor teams but disappear when needed the most; too many focus-stealing distractions; too many mental lapses; too little hustle; a total lack of fundamental baseball skill sets.
Skubal won't fix that. No trade-deadline deals will.
A few years ago Severino accurately said the Yankees only had two hitters; one of them is gone and the other is on the IL. Those left think that swinging harder with a bigger uppercut on every pitch is the answer, and there is no baseball-savvy leadership to correct their course.
The team's annual summer collapse begins mid June like clockwork; where is the leadership that correct this? For half a decade Yankee "leadership" has watched the collapses, offering only tired catch phrases reminiscent of scenes of "Losing is a disease," from The Natural.
I don't see the
#Yankees winning a world series as long as Cashman and Boone run the team.
While the Dodgers drive Cadillacs in their WS winners parades, the Yankees hop in their Yugo, bragging about how much money they saved even as it breaks down a block away.
The best move the Yankees could make would be to replace Cashman and Boone before the trade deadline.
And teach their kids how to bunt!
