Replying to @Uber_Support
@Uber_Support This is really unprofessional. The driver demanded a cash payment on a non-cash trip, and threatened me. The Uber app on his phone even showed a higher amount to be paid as cash than what was displayed earlier. I paid up, but the app is again asking for payment.

There is no way to contact you on phone. I refuse to do the Help/Support dance on the app. This is your fault and you fix it right now. I’m not wasting any more time on this, and I’m definitely not paying again.
I’ll be handing out this advice to every single one of my students. And I have lots. Abusive companies, watch out!

I refuse to use Impress/Google Slides/PowerPoint or anything of the sort while teaching. My teaching tools: a terminal, and a Blink-based web browser.
Every teacher knows this. But PPTs still persist in education ...

JSON. Encoded as a string. Within another JSON object. I’m going through a lot of emotions, but the chief of them is: “Why?” #FoundInProduction

Hey @github that you're charging for copilot when it's trained off code that's been written for free by folks who've worked hard to help build your company's ecosystem is an extremely bad look. Signed: a former lead maintainer of the 3rd most downloaded Ruby package of all time.

Americans. It’ll put Americans through the five stages of grief. That’s just punishment for their crimes against the English language. The British Commonwealth calls the unit of length “nanometre,” instead, and uses the “-meter” suffix for devices, like “speedometer.”
this parenthetical will put some through the five stages of grief

@airtelindia @Airtel_Presence Why are you blocking oauth2.googleapis.com ?! I’m unable to work because of it. First screenshot shows ping, traceroute, and nslookup from Airtel, and second one shows the same from Jio. CC: @GoogleCloud_IN

Update: this issue is resolved as of 1945 hours IST.
Emailing enumerable usernames and the plaintext default weak password for a bunch of new users at once by putting all of users in the “To” field sounds like something that should be punishable by death, but surprisingly isn’t. 😒 #infosec

“We can never be truest friends. Can we pledge to be noblest foes, instead?” is an actual thing I had to tell someone today, how’s your day going?

Obligatory contribution to the “Linux” trend on Twitter. Behold my minimal desktop, that hides great complexity and capability underneath!

My life story. I’m bad at math, and good with languages, and I turned out to be a pretty decent coder.
Coding is more about communicating than computing. New data: the best predictor of how quickly people learned to code wasn't math or cognitive ability, but language aptitude. Math skill was almost irrelevant. Coding is mastering a language, not numbers. nature.com/articles/s41598-0…

This, right here, is why “certifications” and “compliance” immediately make me suspicious of the abilities and processes of the holders.
Here's a fun exercise: Azure has all the compliance certifications you can think of. How are they running Nov 2017 K8s and Oct 2016 runc?
The only command you need to know as a “regular” Linux user is `tmate`, so you can summon help from someone who knows these fifty commands and beyond, instead of wheeling your PC to the nearest computer guy’s shop to install Chrome.
