First of all, our relationship is NO ONE’S BUSINESS. But since it’s now being discussed publicly and people are making serious accusations, I want to speak for myself. Taking two arguments from the first year of knowing each other and using them to define our entire relationship is incredibly unfair. Okay, Nick once made a joke that hurt me. I brought it up during a moment when I was upset, we talked about it, he apologized, and he never did it again. Yes, he left a party to make a point. Again I told him that isn’t okay, he apologized, and he never did it again. No relationship is perfect. I’m not perfect either. What matters is being able to communicate, listen to each other, take accountability, and change when something hurts the other person. Which is what happens in every normal, healthy relationship. Judging by the comments it doesn’t seem like they’ve ever been in one, no surprise there. Those moments were so long ago that I barely even remember them anymore. So much life has happened since then. We’ve met each other’s families, grown together. I am not being forced to be here. I have my own family, my degree, my career, my own life, and the ability to leave whenever I want. I choose to be here. And if he really thinks I’m being emotionally abused, why say nothing for two years? Why wait now to use it as another stone to throw at Nick? I‘be heard him and his girlfriend yelling at each other as well, should I also accuse them of emotional abuse? Tl;dr: Please stop speaking for me and making assumptions about my relationship based on two moments from years ago. I know my relationship better than strangers on the internet do.
