Hamas, a terrorist organization, won the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections. For roughly 16 years before October 7, 2023, Hamas was the sole governing authority in the Gaza territory of occupied Palestine.
Where were the Palestinians? Or the #FreePalestine crowd?
On October 7, 2023, Hamas and allied militants launched a surprise multi-pronged attack from Gaza into southern Israel.
They fired thousands of rockets, breached the border fence in multiple places, and sent fighters by land, paraglider, and vehicle into Israeli communities, military bases, and a large outdoor music festival.
The attackers massacred civilians—killing entire families, shooting people in their homes and at the festival, committing rape and sexual violence, burning people alive, mutilating bodies, and taking roughly 250 hostages back to Gaza. About 1,200 people (mostly civilians) were killed in the assault.
It was the result of years of well-coordinated planning, but unfortunately for them, they messed with the wrong people. Israel declared war and bombed the shit out of them. Anybody expecting Israel to fight fair against these terrorists is being unfair.
My sympathy goes to the few good people in Gaza, especially the children. Their society and families failed them. 💔
I respect Omoyele Sowore and fully support his right to freedom of association.
But the pro-Palestine protest he joined in New York presents a one-sided view of the conflict. It overlooks the terrorist attacks, abductions, and killings that have targeted Israeli and Jewish people.
Israel has every right to defend its citizens through defensive or offensive military action.
I had planned to support and campaign for him. Our fundamental difference on this issue has changed that.
I still wish him well.
I stand with the Israeli and Jewish people.
