Today, @Google reinforced its long-term commitment to Finland through a major investment in AI infrastructure. Nokia is proud to support @googlecloud in this launch, which is a powerful step forward in building Finlandʼs and Europe's digital infrastructure together. Our President and CEO said at the launch event today: 'Every AI token is a network moment. Billions of agents, devices, and people act on intelligence in real time, and every one of those moments depends on a network that is fast, secure and always on. Nokia builds those networks. And with Google we're co-innovating to deliver Optical and IP networks that move intelligence faster, farther and securely. Google is investing to create that future in Finland and we are proud to help them connect it to the world.’ @justinhotard, President and CEO of Nokia nokia.ly/4iRd6yz

One shared trench still drops both paths, even when the Optical and IP gear is fully redundant. Dual diverse entrance pathways are typical on high-availability halls, but TIA-942 Rated-1/2 and EN 50600 Class 1–2 stay single-path. EN 50600-2-1 is the European requirement. It calls for physically separated redundant pathways so one incident can't hit both, and it has no 20-meter rule. TIA-942-C from May 2024 only recommends 20 m, and it isn't Finnish code. Treat two innerducts in one trench as one path on this week's OSP review.

We actually went deeper on the scale of this investment and the nuclear energy deal behind it here:
Google just committed €13 billion to AI infrastructure in Finland today. Here's what you need to know. Google announced it will invest at least €13 billion (about $15 billion) in Finland over 2027 and 2028, its biggest-ever investment in Europe and the largest in Finnish economic history. The money builds at least three, and by some reports four, new data center sites, backed by a 22-year nuclear power deal with the Loviisa plant, plus grid upgrades, clean energy, and battery projects. During the 2027-2028 construction phase, Google says the project will support over 37,000 jobs nationwide and add an average of €3.6 billion a year to Finland's GDP. This builds on Google's 15-plus year presence in the country. Key numbers: - €13,000,000,000 minimum investment (about $15.1 billion) - 2027-2028 investment period - 3-4 new data centers planned - 37,000+ jobs supported during construction - €3.6 billion average annual GDP contribution - 22-year nuclear energy agreement with Loviisa plant Alphabet ($GOOGL) confirmed the plan Wednesday, September 9, 2026, calling it a deepening of its long-term Finland commitment.
