1 juror having reasonable doubt can prevent a conviction, but 11 jurors saying the prosecution failed to meet its burden doesn’t result in an acquittal. If we take the presumption of innocence seriously, shouldn’t an 11–1 deadlock in favor of that presumption count for something?

The judge can order numbers dialed/received, timestamps, duration—basic “phone records” held by a carrier treated as third-party business records. Anything beyond that will probably require an actual search warrant.

Just one more example of why jury trials are an absolute failure. I don’t have a better system in mind, but jury trials have never been fair. Certainly they have provided fair outcomes. But undoubtably, as evidenced here, the number of unfair outcomes is massively significant.

ok now we are in very dangerous ground; it implies the jury selection process is totally corrupted; if jury deliberations are agenda driven social clubs then there is no justice at all; i would say cancel all juries and leave it to the judge; if he/she rules wrong it goes up;
