Moving to a new country is a cruel exercise in rediscovering all the terrible customer experiences of a legacy bank that we set out to fix in building @monzo.
Thinking big is the #1 skill set I find it so hard to teach. If you can think big enough, you care less about shipping edge cases. Being able to think big is the most useful skill for system design and product vision in my experience.
Just went into a random bank in Scotland to get some change to wash my clothes, and in there I see this huge poster naming @monzo as #1 bank in the UK for overall service quality. Quite surreal in this context, and the kind of thing people said would never happen. 👏
So, I have a <div> containing an arbitrary amount of text. When that text is too long to fit, I want it to be truncated with an ellipsis.
Please tell me that this isn't as impossible as it's seeming.
I could have been clearer: I need the text to be able to wrap onto as many lines as will fit in the <div> (not a fixed number), truncating when there is no more space for additional lines.

So many products seem to be sending more push notification spam. While I know it must be moving some graphs up and to the right for them, it's a real shame – it just makes me turn their notifications off completely, even though that often undermines the app's core value prop.
I feel like airline systems would be fascinating to try to rearchitect using modern tech. Complex, interesting, realtime problems – both from a distributed systems as well as a human-computer interaction perspective – and the existing systems really aren't up to scratch ✈️

Comic strips seem like an under-appreciated and under-used communication medium. They can be so effective at explaining complex situations in a fun way, even about quite dry subjects. ✏️

AirPods should notify you when the *case* is running low 🪫 So often I take the headphones out for a call, only to find them nearly empty because the case has been flat
