One of the things that I think is sad about the decimation of Twitter eng is that Twitter was doing a lot of interesting (and high ROI) engineering work that, at younger companies, is mostly outsourced to "the cloud" or open source projects A few examples off the top of my head:

The problem with the UK Tory party is not the personal defects of the captain. The problem is that you’re not eligible for the captaincy unless you agree it was a brilliant idea to scupper the ship in 2016- and can convincingly act baffled why it has been sinking ever since

The Tripitaka Koreana - carved on 81258 woodblocks in the 13th century - is the most successful large data transfer over time yet achieved by humankind. 52 million characters of information, transmitted over nearly 8 centuries with zero data loss - an unequalled achievement. 1/

Worth repeating. Take all the tax changes coming in over next few years and: If your income is < £155k, you lose If your income is > £155k you win If your income > £1m you gain more than £40,000
Despite today's tax cuts middle earners are still set to lose as a result of tax changes over next years. The freezing of allowances and thresholds is still a big tax increase. Only those on over £155,000 will pay less tax overall. The very rich will pay tens of thousands less

I got the think bit, but now I understand what the tank part means.

A brutal, brutal day for sterling. Seems to have settled around $1.09 for the time being tho. By my reckoning this is now one of the top ten worst days for the pound (vs basket of other currencies) since 2004. Not the league table the Chancellor would have wanted to join today…

I can't believe choosing the worst option every single time we were asked has brought us to this.

We’ve reached peak Britishness. You can queue for a full day, you can watch news all day about said queue, you can broadcast self-righteous opinions about the queue AND you can track the queue 24/7 online. If we add the weather updates in at each stage, we’ve completed it mate.
