I'm not going to lie, Grady Hendrix wrote a good vampire yarn (the explicit crap at the end involving the mom and daughter notwithstanding...I guess he thought he needed a graphic rape scene to properly finish out the vampire fight). It's not a book that belongs in a kids library or on a YA shelf, though. The majority of the book is fine for adults who like horror-comedy. It's just not something for K-12. That said, it's also not the worst and the vampire is very decidedly the bad guy with the rape scene played mostly for grotesqueness rather than anything positive. I'd have no issue recommending Grady Hendrix to an adult reader who likes horror.

Caldwell is resigning after a months-long investigation. Her campaign heard repeated concerns about behavior beginning in March. When did Sherrill know the deal, and what did she do besides leave him in charge of the state for 18 days while he was under investigation? Instead of an answer, we got Trump, Climate Week & a random, off-the-wall claim that utility ratepayers will save a magical mystery billion dollars over eight months. Then she claimed that the @NJAssemblyGOP & @NJSenateGOP are only concerned about the Caldwell debacle because we’re “ducking for cover” over Trump. Au contraire. Wanna talk about ducking for cover? Sherrill ducked for cover when summer storms devastated northwest NJ; she couldn’t even face people in the counties she used to represent in Congress. Then she said we’re bitter because she’s running an “incredibly competent” administration (that’s where we would’ve spit out our drinks). Is that what she calls promising no pork yet signing a budget full of it? Promising to freeze electric rates while bills spike? Massively botching the Delaney Hall riot response? Signing unconstitutional laws that get NJ sued on the taxpayers’ dime? Or signing a lazy, unvetted law, realizing the mistake and saying, “It’s okay, we just won’t enforce it”? Caldwell was also secretary of state, overseeing elections. Thousands of noncitizens were registered in a single year & hundreds cast ballots. So comforting to know the prerequisite she emphasized for the person taking over wasn’t cleaning up NJ’s voter rolls. Apparently it was “must dislike Trump.” And it’s the same flaccid excuse whenever NJ’s own failures come up: blame @POTUS. NJ lands at the bottom of just about every fiscal ranking in the country. This might shock and surprise her, but Trump is president of the states at the top, too. Want to know why New Jerseyans are upset? We’re getting absurd electric bills and paying for Trenton’s mistakes while she travels the country auditioning for her next job. We don’t have millions in stock holdings to cushion us from her poor decisions. NJ is our home, not her chess board or her stepping stone. We aren't pawns. We warned people during the campaign, and eight months in, she’s already got us in the rearview. We told you so. #dirtyjersey

In anticipation of “Banned Books Week”—a convenient fiction devised by the American Library Association to distract from its ongoing efforts to adultify and sexualize children—some bookstores are proudly announcing their intention to display and sell so-called “banned books.” Here was our response to one such store, which—to their credit—attempted to define what a “banned book” is (see attached image): Thank you for defining what you mean by “banned.” Your definition at least attempts to be fair, although it is still incorrect, because “banned” means much more than simply “inaccessible.” Libraries remove books all the time, for many reasons. Yet you would not say that all of those books are “banned.” So there is something more to your definition that you are concealing. A public or school library that voluntarily chooses not to carry a particular book, for whatever reason, is not “banning” that book any more than a grocery store that chooses not to carry rambutan is “banning” rambutan. A library does not, and indeed cannot, place any restrictions on the acquisition, possession, or use of any book. Libraries are, by definition, curated collections, not warehouses. Due to limited space and myriad other concerns—including, yes, age-appropriateness and conformance to community standards—they have to choose which books to carry and which books not to carry. As you correctly noted, a book that isn’t available for checkout at a library can still be obtained through other means. Yet your definition implies that any book not provided to the public for free at taxpayer expense is “banned.” That is a rather novel and, shall we say, unorthodox understanding of the word. While your attempt at fairness is appreciated, we would urge you to go a step further and reconsider your use of the word “banned.” Definitions matter, because truth matters. #BannedBooksWeek

This is Ice, the defenseless Husky who was stolen and executed. We indicted three defendants for their roles in a calculated scheme to terrorize and extort his owner. As alleged in our indictment, these defendants conspired to intimidate and coerce the victim over a dispute involving a vehicle, ultimately taking his innocent dog hostage and executing him. We will speak for Ice and for all the dogs who cannot speak for themselves. Animal cruelty and violent extortion are serious federal crimes, and my office will pursue accountability to the fullest extent of the law.

Philadelphia spent YEARS turning “don’t help ICE” into a civic identity. Now enforcement shows up without City Hall in the chain of command. Since Democrats preach that cooperating with ICE is a sin, Philadelphia no longer gets quiet arrests and enforcement. The city gets foot pursuits instead, with ICE showing up alone and finishing what City Hall refused to touch. Mass deportations aren’t radical. They’re the receipt for every Democrat city that called non-enforcement “compassion”. Bus them. Fly them. Ship them. Send them all home.
