The hold only works if pick is blocked until the edit window closes. Otherwise support rewrites the address while the tote is already packing — and you eat the void, the reprint, and the confusion ticket.

The expensive mess starts when the edit window and the pick happen at the same time. Blocking the pick makes the hold useful.

That is the costly part. Give customers a short edit window after payment and fewer good orders die in support.
