In the 1980s, IBM had already built a computer but needed an OS to run on it. They met with Bill Gates who explicitly said he had one, spoiler alert… he did not. Bill Gates actually met another developer and bought “the windows OS” as we know it today 😁 People are smart 😅

A guy I know spent $1,800 on a Samsung TV and genuinely thought he had the perfect picture. For THREE YEARS, he watched everything on it. Netflix at night. Football on weekends. Movies with his family. YouTube when he couldn't sleep. He never complained once. Then one day, a friend of his came over. She works professionally with home theater setups, so she casually looked at the TV and asked: “Wait… what picture mode are you using?” He checked. Vivid. She just stared at him. 😂 Then she said:

As long as Nigerian states rely on FAAC to pay the salaries of States' civil servants and do meaningful capital project, they will still be under the servitude of the FG.
This is deeply painful. We all supported Adeleke to victory when the APC heavily came down on him, and after a hard-fought victory, is this what the opposition gets? Adeleke has betrayed not just the good people of Osun who resisted the APC, but the struggle itself.

So, technically, apart from Lagos, no state can independently survive without FG monthly handout. He who pays the piper calls the tune. The performance of a state govt is largely dependent on the FAAC he gets. Shut him out of FAAC and he becomes redundant.

It's like a single mother with 10 children, who gets her monthly income from her father. She would need another source of living before she can raise her voice on her father.

Yorùbá elders clocked this waaay back. They say "Ọsán já, ọrún dọ̀pá. Àtàǹpàkò ò sí, ọwọ́ dìlagbà." Meaning: Once the bowstring snaps, the bow 🏹 becomes just an ordinary stick. In the absence of the thumb, the hand is reduced to a helpless, clumsy stump. Our forebearers were scientists and they recorded most of their observations and inferences in different proverbs.
When did you realize that without the thumb, other fingers are less useful?

As of May 29, 2023, we had a 60%+ FX premium @ ₦464.51/$ vs ₦770/$. ₦30trn W&M. $7bn FX backlog. <$3bn net FX reserves. Near-bankrupt NNPC, $2bn crude-backed forwards. <1m bpd output. Oil & FX subsidies at 5% of GDP. Trillions in power debt. So, wat’s debatable in dis mess?🙏🏾
Well, that’s debatable. What’s not debatable is where we are today. Hopefully, these pains are temporary and our future is bright. 🙏
