For three days in Geneva, Afghan artists and human rights defenders made their voices heard through art, music, dialogue and resistance. From the Blooming Afghanistan exhibition at the Palais des Nations to a sold-out concert at Victoria Hall, the initiative brought Afghan creativity and resilience to the heart of Geneva. Under the Taliban’s severe restrictions on artistic and civic expression, creating art is an act of courage. For Afghan artists, particularly women, continuing to create, perform and tell their stories is a powerful affirmation of identity, freedom and resistance. Blooming Afghanistan offered a rare platform for Afghan artists and human rights defenders to speak directly to audiences in Geneva and beyond, a reminder that art, even under repression, remains a space where Afghan identity and dissent can be voiced.
