Sweden is witnessing a striking Christian resurgence among young people, with the share attending religious services doubling from 17% in 2020 to 34% in 2024, belief in God rising from 20% to 34%, and Jesus emerging as a major “influencer” and youth trend for 2025.
The Church of Sweden reported that confirmations rose for the third consecutive year in 2025, while baptisms connected to confirmation contributed to membership growth.
Nearly 18,000 people had actively joined the Church of Sweden by November 2025, compared with around 14,000 during all of 2024 and only roughly 5,000–6,000 annually in the late 2000s.
Christian youth gatherings are also drawing significant crowds, with one “Jesus Conference” growing to more than 3,000 attendees.
After decades of declining institutional Christianity in one of Europe’s most secular societies, multiple indicators now point to renewed religious interest among Sweden’s younger generation.
