BREAKING: OSSTF/FEESO will hold a province-wide central strike vote for school board sector members from November 6 to 16 as the current round of collective bargaining continues. “Our members want fair, negotiated contracts that address the realities they are seeing in schools every day. A strike vote gives us an opportunity to strengthen our bargaining position and sends a clear message to the Ford government that OSSTF/FEESO members are united behind the bargaining priorities we will bring to the table,” said #OSSTF President @marthahradowy. 🚨 A $3.9 BILLION education shortfall! Yesterday, @InfoFAO released a report showing that the Ford government’s education funding plan doesn’t even keep pace with the cost of maintaining current services. Education spending would need to grow by 2.1% a year just to maintain current service levels. The Ford government is planning just 0.6%, the slowest three-year growth rate since the Harris government. That adds up to a $3.9 billion shortfall over the next three years. Students and education workers deserve FAR better. #OSSTF #OntEd #OnPoli

The right to strike is not negotiable. OSSTF/FEESO’s Provincial Executive strongly condemns Bill C-39 and its proposed expansion of federal powers to intervene in lawful labour disputes. Workers’ fundamental rights are not an inconvenience to be managed when collective bargaining becomes difficult. Prime Minister Carney: withdraw Bill C-39.
