I thought the story was so obvious. He was there to fire every obstacle at Ospreay, technical mat wrestling, brawling, foreign objects, gang warfare interference, to make sure Ospreay is worthy of being the guy to lead the promotion. It was a storytelling match that plays from the entire Ospreay-Moxley saga from the year. I'm not a fan of the ref bump interference stuff because usually it's a crutch and makes a serious match seem fake pro wrestling to get easy pops and fake drama, but was the story they were going for really that difficult to understand? Maybe it was, but in the last ten seconds and post-match, it was all explained.
For me, the lesson is simple: Will out-Death-Ridered the Death Riders. Mox was desperate to win and being unable to get it done on his own, he relied on all his old tricks. But Ospreay still persevered.
